In the Village

Visit Our Village Shop

We’re very proud of our village shop and post office. It’s the hub of our village and provides a huge range of fantastic produce. Local bread, meat, yoghurt and cakes - and so much more! They even sell fishing nets for the kids to play with in our beautiful river. Drop in for a visit, it’s open 8am-6pm daily & 8am-4pm on Sundays.

Eat & Drink

We’re lucky enough to have two pubs in Llanfairtalhaiarn - The Black Lion & The Swan. Grab a bite to eat or a refreshing pint and enjoy the stunning views! We also have a fantastic local cafe - Olivia’s - serving up a tasty menu with lots to choose from. There’s something for everyone.

The River Elwy

The river here brings visitors all year round, to admire and photograph it - and even have a swim. In the Summer it’s a great day out, and like our own local beach! Grab a bit to eat for your BBQ and some fishing nets for the kids from the village shop, it’s a perfect way to spend the day.

Walk & Explore

There are so many stunning walking routes in and around Llanfairtalhaiarn village. You could start by exploring the Ddôl Bach path! This riverside walk offers a wildlife haven with wildflowers, ancient oaks buzzing with insects, and the chance to spot kingfishers. Or walk up to Mynydd Bodran, a spectacular viewpoint above the village - giving views right across Snowdonia. If you feel like adventuring further, the 7 mile trail following in the footsteps of Victorian Poet Gerard Manley Hopkins - is definitely one to try.

The Garthewin Estate

Garthewin was the home of a family - The Wynnes - which has lived in this part of Wales for at least eleven centuries. The Garthewin Estate is around 500 acres of stunning gardens and woodland, just outside Llanfairtalhaiarn village. The gardens and some of the buildings, including the old theatre and chapel, can usually be visited by appointment only - in aid of the National Garden Scheme. However this is currently unavailable. Abergele town

Abergele, only 5.2 miles from Llanfairtalhaiarn - is a welcoming town nestled between the popular resorts of Colwyn Bay and Rhyl. Explore Abergele's rich past, from its Celtic monastery roots to its medieval marketplace. It’s also the home of the famous Gwrych Castle from ‘I’m a Celebrity get me out of here!’ Abergele has a bustling high street full of local shops, a leisure centre, and a large supermarket too.


Llandudno Pier & The Great Orme

A great day out, the view from The Great Orme is stunning - there’s a traditional tram from town that can take you right up to the top! There’s also a dry ski slope, toboggans and cable cars to enjoy. Llandudno has a fantastic Victorian pier too, which has arcades and refreshments.

Welsh Mountain Zoo

Born as a small family run business by the Jackson family in 1963, the Welsh Mountain Zoo - also known as the National Zoo of Wales, is the oldest and most established Zoo in Wales. Set on one of the most picturesque and unique landscapes for any UK Zoo, the Zoo occupies around 37 acres of lush green landscape. The site overlooks the Colwyn Bay coastline and the Carneddau mountains in North Wales. With around 80 species housed in our wonderful collection, we have welcomed over eight million visitors through our gates to date.

Conwy Castle & Town

Conwy takes its place alongside Edward’s other great castles at Beaumaris, Harlech and Caernarfon as a World Heritage Site. This famous fortress is exceptionally well preserved. The high curtain wall and eight lofty towers rise almost as impressively as when they were built more than 700 years ago. There isn’t a better place in Britain to stand on the battlements and dream. Conwy town itself is full of character and charm, there’s plenty of places to get a bite to eat.

Gwrych Castle

Gwrych Castle is an imposing gothic ruin on the picturesque North Wales coastline, with spectacular sea views and impressive architecture around every corner. Gwrych Castle gained fame as the filming location for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for two consecutive years.

It’s a popular dog-friendly tourist attraction with a scenic visitor route open throughout the year.

Manorafon Farm Park

Watch the pig race, meet our reptiles, cuddle cute rabbits and feed our many wonderful farm animals. There are often baby animals to see including lambs, kids, piglets and chicks. With an indoor play barn, off-road pedal go-karts, a variety of outdoor play areas, full programme of activities, plus lunchtime food from the Greedy Goat Snack Hut, Manorafon Farm Park makes for a brilliantly exciting day out.

The Bay of Colwyn Beach

Sand as far as the eye can see! The bay stretches from Old Colwyn to Rhos on Sea, a lovely walk that’s approximately 3 miles. Great all year round, and there’s plenty of places to stop and grab a coffee or ice cream.

Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon
